Fabulous Frocks & Frightening Faux Pas| Style at the AMAs

On Sunday, November 23rd, the wildly popular American Music Awards took place, live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Although the event was focused on hit music today, the style depicted on the red carpet was filled with both fabulous frocks and frightening faux pas.

Best Dressed:

Taylor Swift looked gorgeous on the red carpet, styling a sea foam shade dress and exposing just the right amount of her midriff. As for hair and makeup, she wore a beautiful bronze eye look, paired with a nude lip, keeping her short hair in casual curls. As usual Swift kept it cute yet classy and looked fabulous at the AMAs.

Selena Gomez looked stunning in her emotional performance of her single, “Heart Wants What It Wants.” She wore a pale pink, flowing, Armani Prive gown that complimented her complexion wonderfully. Selena’s hair and makeup were kept natural with flowing goddess-like hair and simple toned eyeshadow shades.

We can’t forget about the boys! One Direction was quite a spectacle as each member of the band wore all black. Their looks were each different but all represented the “rock and roll-hipster,” style. Of his four bandmates, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles definitely had the most unique look. He sported a gold trimmed jacket and chic black hat- surely making a statement.

In Need of a Makeover:

Disney star, Zendaya was not looking her best on the AMAs red carpet. Her frumpy pants and matching jacket certainly did not compliment her petite body figure and left her swimming in fabric. Not to mention the bathing suit looking “top” worn layered in the outfit. Not classy or complimentary.

Hate to say it but heartthrob, Ansel Elgort from the film, The Fault in Our Stars, had several faults in his hideous ensemble. For starters, his paisley patterned pants were an atrocious shade of green that definitely did not match his clunky shoes. Aside from that, his suit jacket seemed about five sizes too small, making not only him uncomfortable, but his viewers as well. Sadly, Elgort could have looked a lot better at the AMAs.

From classy to edgy there were many diverse looks being worn at the 2014 AMAs. It was intriguing to view the different styles of each celebrity and how their personalities showed through each piece. Although some stars did not look their best, everyone at the event was tremendously talented and a joy to watch.
